MIGRAINE-HOME REMEDIES

As usual I got up in the morning. But  don’t know why, I had severe headache along with giddiness. I was wondering what may be the reason for this horrible headache. As the day progressed,I was not able to walk in the hot sun. Along with the Pulsing and throbbing head pain i was not able to perform my regular activities and was very sensitive to light and sound. Unable to tolerate the pain I approached the doctor and was diagnosed to have “MIGRAINE HEADACHE”.As i was not interested to take the tablets i was searching for other measures to get relief from migraine.

Common causes for migraine may be:

Home Remedies :

o   Try muscle relaxation exercises. Progressive muscle relaxation, meditation and yoga.
o   Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. The average adult needs six to eight hours of sleep a night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times
o   Rest and relax. Try to take rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp.
o   Apply a paste of freshly ground clay or freshly ground sandalwood to the forehead, let dry, rub off by hand and wash.
o   When not suffering from a cold, drink a teaspoon of honey in a glass of warm water or fill the stomach completely with water.
o   Massage forehead, temples, neck and shoulder muscles, making sure to use a little oil to prevent chafing and burning
o   Regular consumption of magnesium supplements may help alleviate migraine pain. Fruits, nuts, and dark green, leafy vegetables are a great natural source of magnesium, so a cocktail of fruit and vegetable juices is very beneficial for alleviating migraines.
o    Carrot juice combined with spinach, beet and cucumber is great for migraine pain relief. Combine 300ml of carrot juice with spinach leaves. Then add up to 100ml each of beet and cucumber juices to the mix and drink it .Your migraine will be reduced.
o   Applying peanut butter mixed with grated ginger on your temples can relieve migraines because the body absorbs the Arginine and Magnesium allowing your blood vessels to release. Leave this mixture on for three hours and it will relieve your migraines for a week..

o   Keep a headache diary. Continue keeping your headache diary even after you see your doctor. It will help you learn more about what triggers your migraines and what treatment is most effective.

Still with all this home remedies if your migraine headache doesn’t subsides,
Do Not Worry. Approach your doctor and take the medications like analgesics prescribed by him…….

Cervical Cancer vaccines

                     CERVICAL CANCER AND THE VACCINES

Cervical cancer is the third most common type of cancer in women worldwide.Cervical cancers start in the cells on the surface of the cervix. There are two types of cells on the cervix's surface: squamous and columnar. Most cervical cancers are from squamous cells.

Cervical cancer usually develops very slowly. It starts as a precancerous condition called dysplasia. This precancerous condition can be detected by a Pap smear and is 100% treatable. It can take years for precancerous changes to turn into cervical cancer.
cervical cancer vaccine
There are 26 vaccine preventable diseases.Cervical cancer  also can be considered one among them. The cervical cancer vaccine is recommended for girls and boys ages 11 to 12, although it may be given as early as age 9. It's important for boys and girls to receive the vaccine before they have sexual contact and are exposed to HPV(Human papilloma virus) . Once infected with HPV, the vaccine may not be as effective. If not fully vaccinated at ages 11 to 12, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that girls and women through age 26 and boys and men through age 21 receive the vaccine. However, men may receive the HPV vaccine through age 26 if desired.

There are mainly 2 types of vaccines available ie: Gardasil, marketed by Merck, and Cervarix, marketed by GlaxoSmithKline .Gardasil is quadrivalent in nature which  gives protection against the infection caused by HPV type 6, type11(causative agent for genital warts and genital lesions) and type 16 ,type 18.(culprits for cervical cancer). But Cervarix is bivalent in nature and cervarix is designed to prevent infection from HPV types 16 and 18, that cause about 70% of cervical cancer cases.
Both vaccines are given as a series of three injections over a six-month period. The second dose is given one to two months after the first dose, and the third dose is given six months after the first doses.

Side Effects:

The most common side effects of both HPV vaccines include soreness at the injection site (the upper arm), headaches, low-grade fever or flu-like symptoms. Sometimes dizziness or fainting occurs after the injection, especially in adolescents. Remaining seated for 15 minutes after the injection can reduce the risk of fainting. In addition, Cervarix may also cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or abdominal pain.

But  friends, only by taking HPV vaccine you can not protect yourself completely from cervical cancer.you may also be a victim of this dreadful disease .So go for PAP smear screening and prevents the disaster.
